SuperCharger lands in Malaysia; Islamic fintech a focus

SuperCharger Fintech Accelerator has opened its doors in Malaysia, confirming an earlier report by IFN Fintech in May.

When IFN Fintech first broke the story in May (See IFN Fintech May Issue: ‘StanChart plans KL accelerator; eyes Islamic fintech start-ups’), it was learned that the accelerator’s founding partner, Standard Chartered (StanChart), was keen on including Shariah compliant fintech providers to its 12-week program – IFN Fintech understands that this still stands.

StanChart has aligned itself with insurer Allianz Malaysia and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation to replicate the accelerator program in Malaysia, opening it up to international fintech start-ups and scale-up companies. Applications for the no-fee and no-equity program will be open until the 18th August, with the program running in Kuala Lumpur from the 25th September to December 2017.
